Set of 2 Vintage Bangle Bracelets, Cobalt Cloisonne Enamel & Painted Porcelain

Sold on eBay July 10th, 2023

Set of 2 Vintage Bangle Bracelets, Cobalt Cloisonne Enamel & Painted Porcelain

Welcome to our newest store "Dallas Valley Discoveries". For more collectibles, please also visit our larger store "Mena Country Sales", both specializing in vintage and antique collectibles. Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a set of 2 beautiful vintage Cloisonne enameled and painted porcelain "cloisonne" bangles. These bracelets are unsigned. They are both just gorgeous. The wider of the two is a true cloisonne piece made with enamel and gold filigree wire and. The base of the bracelet looks like a cobalt blue porcelain. The bracelet has a beveled design with both sides slanting to a pointed line that runs through the center on the outer side of the bracelet. This bracelet is round and has an inner diameter of 2.5 inches and an outer diameter of slightly over 3 inches. It's width is about 10mm. The second bracelet is also blue but more of a robin's egg blue as opposed to cobalt. The bracelet is porcelain and at first glance also appears to be cloisonne, but it is actually painted and instead of thin gold wire being used to separate the fired enamel designs, gold paint is used and somehow expertly applied in the thinnest of lines. The bracelet has a tube like design and is rounded with a hollow center. There a little hole on the inside of the bracelet where the bracelet was held to be fired. This is not a flaw but part of the production process. This bracelet is a tiny bit smaller than the other, with an inner diameter is just under 2.5 inches, about 2.45 inches and outer diameter of about 2.95 inches. It's width is about 8 mm. These bracelets can be worn separately or together. They are vintage but I'm not sure whether this is old vintage or newer vintage. My hunch based on experience is midcentury or slightly earlier. Neither of them have the prefabricated look of later, 80s and 90s cloisonne. They both appear to be very finely handcrafted. Both show some signs of wear and age. They are in gorgeous vintage condition but when you look under magnification, you can see little nicks or dings here and there that occur with age and wear. In my opinion it adds to their value in that it is obvious they aren't reproductions. These bracelets will make great additions to one's vintage jewelry collection. The pictures are to be considered as part of the description so please use the zoom feature and review them for a better idea of details and condition. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Shipping will be $5.50 USPS insured first class, and i would be more than willing to combine shipping. I don't offer a return policy, but... i will stand behind my listings. if i make a mistake on my listing, or i misunderstand an item or miss a relevant flaw on the items listed, i will do ANYTHING in my power to make things right for the buyer, so bid with confidence. 19th C. Japanese Cloisonne Enamel on Bronze 12" Lidded Box, Meiji Period

Sold on eBay January 7th, 2025

19th C. Japanese Cloisonne Enamel on Bronze 12" Lidded Box, Meiji Period

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for an amazing late 19th Century elaborately decorated Japanese cloisonne on bronze lidded box from the Meiji period (1868-1912). This over sized box has a round shape with slightly rounded top and is decorated with multi-designs over the entire body. The top has a Japanese hand fan theme with colorful medallions and a phoenix bird. The background color is a very deep blue which contrasts nicely with the colorful fans and other decoration. Used within the decoration is goldstone which glistens when the light catches it. There is a multi-pattern decorative panel around the center of the box above and below the bronze band on each piece. Above the foot ring is a wide design of diamond shaped cloisons colored in bronze enamel. The base and interior of the bowl are decorated with heavily applied textured green enamel. With its incredible size, colors and designs, this cloisonne box is worthy of being a part of any 19th Century cloisonne collection! Measures 6 1/2" high and 12" in diameter with a 6" diameter foot ring. Weighs 5.6 pounds. This nice quality lidded box is in excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being some minor denting on the bronze collar on the bowl that is covered by the lid/cover. These flaws are negligible for an item of this age. There is the expected tiny pitting in the enamel which is normal on these older pieces and occurs during the firing process, however, there is no noted damage to the enameling.
